On Saturday, March 16, Holyrood Hall was decorated in shades of green, white and orange ready for a St Patrick Day’s dinner.

Organised by Barbara Conway, the event raised funds for St. Thomas’ Catholic youth group.
This has not been the only fundraiser organised by Barbara, as she has sold cakes and organised a Christmas Fayre in support of St Thomas’ young parishioners.
Apart from the vast funds raised, it was an event appreciating culture as parishioner Colin Magee expressed: “The St Patrick's night was a chance for Irish people and the wider community to come together to celebrate and have some craic. It was an expression of Irish culture, with an Island flavour, as our Island community made the event.”
It was also an opportunity for local talent to shine, with live music performances.
Members of the youth group volunteered, serving food to parishioners and aiding the preparation of the event.
The teenagers enjoyed volunteering, as Raphael Orola said: “It’s important for us to volunteer, as it gives us an opportunity to help others and participate in all sorts of events.
“I was happy to support this event, and to see the wider effect of our youth club.”
