Newport stretched their unbeaten run to ten games with an entertaining 1-1 draw against Clanfield last night (Wednesday).

A crowd of 110 turned out at Beatrice Avenue, East Cowes to watch Port in Wessex Division One action.

The home side started well, with chances falling to both Joe Craig and Ji Nash early on.

Port were getting joy down the flanks with Jamie Wright and Henry West providing problems.

Sam Cant also saw a couple of half chances easily saved.

But against the run of place, Clanfield took the lead midway through the first half.

A magical run from Harry Potter saw him beat the offside trap before slotting home.

Clanfield were reduced to ten just before half time for a challenge on Brad Young.

In the second-half, Port kept knocking on the door and two clear cut chances fell the way of Sam Cant, who couldn't get the necessary connection.

The home side thought it wasn't their night after Macauley Watterson was sent off for a second yellow.

With both sides down to ten men, Port freshened things up and brought on Matt Oatley, Kai Grace and Keelan Walsh.

This provided the impetus needed, and as Clanfield started to tire, Henry West popped up with another vital goal..

Newport had chances to nick it late on but they couldn't grab their second.

Final score: Newport 1-1 Clanfield.
