LOSING heavily away at Gosport and Fareham RFC, the Hurricanes' Counties 1 Hampshire rugby match was abandoned early due to the weather as Storm Bert ripped through Southern England on Saturday.

GOSPORT & FAREHAM 36, HURRICANES 0 

Sandown & Shanklin RFC were already struggling against a well-drilled home team, when the decision was made to halt play due to "growing lack of visibility".

The adverse weather conditions had made it difficult for the visitors to maintain momentum, with handling errors and injuries hampering their efforts.

Despite being on the back foot for much of the game, they showed steadfast "effort and commitment."

Man of the match, Harry Miselbach, put in a commendable shift, making a "colossal amount of tackles" throughout the game, as the Hurricanes sought to stem the tide.

It was the Islanders' fourth loss of the season.

The match was abandoned before the final whistle, due to the stormy conditions making good rugby unplayable.
