Wight Eagles were knocked out by Shanklin in the Invitation Cup quarter-final.
The Eagles started the game as the brighter of the two Island sides in the derby, playing confidently out of the back into spaces in the middle of the field.
They quickly got the ball wide to find Abi Joyce, who cut in onto her right foot to curl the ball into the top corner, giving the Eagles an early lead in the fifth minute.
Shanklin found it difficult to gain any time on the ball as the Eagles kept moving short passes.
Kira Smith had the back four turning and twisting, but she was denied by the Shanklin keeper.
Shortly before half time, Shanklin broke through and equalised 1-1.
Right on the stroke of half time, Shanklin started to dominate the game, breaking into the box to take a 2-1 lead.
The second half started, and Shanklin remained on top, getting an early goal to go 3-1 up with the wind behind them.
They took advantage of this and capitalised, putting pressure on to extend the lead to 4-1.
The Eagles started to mount their attack again in the last 15 minutes and had some great chances from the midfield, but the damage was done and the Division 1 side took the win to progress through to the semi-finals of the Invitation Cup.
