Newport extended their unbeaten run to eight games with a 5-1 home thrashing of Totton and Eling, in today's Isle of Wight football.
The victory means Port have now won three on the trot and remain two points from the Wessex Division One play-off spots.
It took just two minutes for the home side to take the lead — Ji Nash bagging the early opener.
This was followed be a second soon after. With 14 minutes played, a corner whipped in by Josh Younie was flicked on by Michael Thompsett and Henry West found himself on the end of it to make it 2-0.
Totton pulled one back just after the half hour mark but Port responded well.
With 42 minutes gone, Nash rounded the keeper and slotted home to make it 3-1 going into the break.
Both teams had chances after the interval and it took until the 74th minute for Ji Nash to bag his hattrick and Newport's fourth of the game.
Just four minutes later Joe Craig got in on the action, scoring his side's fifth.
Final score: Newport 5-1 Totton and Eling.
East Cowes Vics continued their fine league form away at AFC Aldermaston.
After a scrappy start to the game, a half-way line goal from Scott Jones silenced the home crowd and gave Vics the lead not long before half-time.
There wasn't much to separate the two sides but Vics made their chances count, with Liam Newbold tucking home from a corner to make it 2-0.
A late goal courtesy of a great finish from Ben Cutts ensured the Island side took home all three points.
Final score: AFC Aldermaston 0-3 East Cowes Vics
In the Wessex Premier Division, Cowes Sports were looking to continue their upturn in form as they travelled to Wincanton Town.
After a steady start to the game for both teams, the home side took the lead in the 13th minute.
A header from a corner was turned away by keeper Hatt, but the ball dropped to the opposing striker who tapped home.
Cowes created a number of chances and had much of the ball but they couldn't find the equaliser going into the break.
It was much of the same after the interval, with a McFarlane effort hitting the post in the 62nd minute.
The Yachtsmen were made to rue their missed chances and with 72 minutes played, Wincanton added their second of the game.
They added a third soon after — a failed clearance finding the feet of the team's other striker to make it 3-0.
Callum Chase headed home for Cowes in the 81st minute but the goal was nothing more than a consolation.
Final score: Wincanton Town 3-1 Cowes Sports.
