SANDOWN and Shanklin RFC seconds travelled with 12 players to Chichester, but "fought like lions" against a strong home side.

The match started evenly, but Chichester scored an early try.

Jack Davey, Riley Lloyd, and Cody Hayman made strong runs for Sandown, but Chichester scored again, making it 10-0.

Liam Little's play allowed Gary Warvill to pass to Freddie Sheath, who scored under the posts.

The score stayed 10-7 for a while before Chichester scored again.

Warvill then scored a penalty goal, putting the score at 17-10.

Chichester scored a couple more, ending the game 36-10.

Their coach said: "The lads never gave up and fought 'til the end, with a bare minimum team.

"We look forward to hosting them at Sandown with a full squad soon."

Sheath was named man of the match for his outstanding performance.
