Three young squash players from the Isle of Wight Squash Academy recently competed in the British Junior Championship.

Held from October 31 to November 3, the tournament is the second-largest junior event in England and featured stiff competition.

Finn Husson, just a week past his ninth birthday, managed to maintain his seeding of 17-24, finishing 20th out of 39 competitors in the boys' under-11 category.

In the girls' under-11 category, Olivia Holbrook showcased her talent, decisively winning her quarter-final match and then engaging in a thrilling five-set semi-final against Elsie Griffiths from Wales.

Although Olivia did not reach the final, her remarkable performance earned her a commendable fourth place overall.

Millie Holbrook, competing in the girls' under-15 category, faced the toughest matches of the three and secured 23rd place out of 31, successfully maintaining her seeding.

Her strong character and determination were evident as she battled through every round against fierce competition.

Isle of Wight Squash Academy coach Adam Dominey said: "These three players are the next generation of strong talent on the island, hoping to follow in Amelie Haworth’s (2023 womens u19 BJC Champion) footsteps. They all work incredibly hard and are very dedicated and deserve their recent success."
