Three matches in, and last year’s table tennis champions, Ryde C, look to have competition for top spot this season.
Club rivals Ryde Rankers are hot on their tails after smashing Newport Vics A 10-0.
The Rankers’ Hugh Idle, Lewis Johnstone and Graham Evans are just one point behind Ryde C in second place.
Havenstreet A, meanwhile, compounded a miserable week for Newport Vics with a 10-0 win over their B team, with Havenstreet’s Roger Hookey player of the match.
In Division Two, match of the week was between Newport Vics C and Ryde Rising Stars.
Ryde’s Tom Waddell was the player of the match and unbeaten, whilst cadet Jye Lock beat Vic’s Christopher Firth and took experienced Michael Jose to five sets.
With the score 5-4 to Vics, Waddell and Lock teamed up to take the doubles for Ryde, and the match ended in a draw.
Ryde Revellers head the table after a fine 8-2 win over clubmates Ryde Rascals.
In Division Three, St Lawrence Lizards and Ryde Retailers occupy first and second place respectively, whilst an improved Ryde Frogs have climbed to third place.
