TALENTED young crews from Ryde Rowing Club excelled at the Itchen Imperial Rowing Club's Junior Regatta.

Saturday's event, over a 450m course on the River Itchen, Southampton, saw mainly river boat racing, with no racing turn, for various categories and boat types for boys and girls, aged 14 to 16 years.

First up for Ryde was Isaac Gibson, in the boys' J16 river sculls for novices, finishing second in his final.

Lottie Pettitt, in the girls' J16 sculls, placed first in her heat and third in the final.

The boys' J14 river double of Max Locke and Joe Bird, were disqualified due to impediment, but secured second place in a re-row.

Charlie Watts triumphed in the boys' J16 single sculls, winning both his heat and the final.

In the boys' J16 river double, the club's B crew, comprised of Newport’s Boris Hare and Ryde’s Isaac Gibson, won the final.

The boys' river coxed quad of Cameron D’Arcy, Max Locke, Isaac Gibson and Joe Bird, with Harry Watts coxing, clinched victory in both their heat and the final.

Finally, the boys' J16 coxed river four of Fin Diffey, Isaac Gibson, Charlie Watts and Bird, with Watts again coxing, also finished first in their final.
