Shanklin and Sandown Rowing Club travelled to Southampton for the final regatta of the season last weekend, taking scalps in multiple races.

The Island club entered ten crews into the Itchen Junior Regatta, securing five wins.

The club’s Novice J14 double of Sam Meadowcroft and James Travers steered a great course to secure victory in their race by the narrowest of margins, while the other Boy’s J14 double of Josh Batchelor and Digby Ridgewell, competing in the competitor section, won after a re-row.

This was an especially impressive win given Josh had not long finished, and won, his J13 sculls final.

The girl’s J16 coastal double of Evie Crew and Evie Selway, meanwhile, won convincingly, two lengths ahead of Lymington.

The club’s fifth win of the regatta came from the girl’s J14 coastal quad of Amelia Chambers, Martha Eggleton, Olivia Mumberson and Poppy Lawrence, with Esme Walters coxing.

They got off to a good start and never looked back, also finishing two lengths ahead of Lymington.
