SHANKLIN Sandown Rowing Club shone at the South Coast Championships in Southampton last weekend.
The club entered 11 crews — putting in some spectacular performances, fuelled by strength, strategy and teamwork.
The men's junior four, comprising Arlo Adds, Carter Horrix, Louis Sheasby, Fred Giemza-Pipe and cox Esme Walters, put in a robust performance.
They not only gained a lead from the very start, but maintained it throughout — showcasing some exceptional dominance.
"The crew got off to an excellent start and quickly opened up a two-length lead, from which they were never challenged and went on to win in fine style," said coach, Garry Walters.
The novice ladies' crew also made headlines, securing a place in the final and finishing third.
Special mention goes to the J14 and J16 crews, who put in some commendable performances.
Despite the tough conditions, the boys' J16 quad team of Tobin Green, Isaac King, Horrix and Sheasby, secured second spot — contributing significantly to the club's overall success.
In the end, these victories clinched the Aggregate Cup for Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club — an award given to the most successful club at the junior regatta.
This is the third consecutive year the club has earned the title.
With various wins and impressive performances, the club ended the season on a high note, setting a high bar for next year.
