The scenic and challenging Isle of Wight Half Marathon returns this Sunday (August 18) with a course that winds through the picturesque landscape.
Organised by Ryde Harriers, the race begins at 11am, with the start and finish lines located at Appley Park.
Runners will complete two laps on a route that includes a mix of tarmac roads and off-road gravel tracks around Ryde and the surrounding area.
The course will take participants through Ryde, Bullen Lane, Goddard’s Farm Lane and Attrill’s Lane before leading them to Nettlestone and then back to Bullen Lane to begin the second lap.
The route also includes sections through Whitefield Woods and Carpenters Road.
All runners can expect clear markers at each mile point, with water stations strategically placed at approximately three-mile intervals.
With only 300 spots available, there’s still an opportunity for those who missed the online entry deadline to join in.
Runners can enter in person on the event day for a fee of £20 if affiliated with a club or £23 for unaffiliated runners.
The 2023 half marathon saw Ryde Harrier’s own Dan Eckersley cross the finish line first with a time of one hour, 11 minutes and 17 seconds.
This year’s half marathon medal has been crafted from recycled glass and features a vibrant colour print.
