QUICK times were posted by Isle of Wight triathletes Jan Fletcher and Liz Dunlop at the Big Cow Calfman Standard Distance Triathlon in Milton Keynes.

The event, held at at Emberton Country Park, also acted as a qualifier for the 2025 Age Group Standard Distance World Championships in Australia.

The event included a 1,500m swim in Emberton Park lake, 40km cycling and a challenging 10km run.

Fletcher, racing in the 45-49 category, but aiming to qualify for the 50-54 next year, completed the swim in 27mins 4secs.

Dunlop, in the 65-69 age group, followed closely at 28.27.

Both Wight Tri athletes posted quick times on the bike course, with Fletcher finishing in 1.12.05 and Dunlop in 1.20.28.

Despite struggling with injuries, Fletcher completed the run to finished second from seven in her age group, but topped the 50-54 group to secure first place for the 2025 World Championships.

Dunlop, despite coping with back spasms, took the lead of her age group at the end of the first lap.

She finished first in her age group and 49th female overall, in 2.53.01, to secure the second world qualification spot, as an athlete in a younger age group will move up next year.

Both Fletcher and Dunlop, as well as fellow triathlete Helen Scholes, have already qualified for the 2025 Age Group World Sprint Distance Championships.

The athletes will also compete at the 2024 European Age Group Triathlon Championships in Vichy, France, next month.

Fletcher will compete in the Sprint Triathlon, while Dunlop will take part in both the Sprint and Standard Distance Triathlons.
