The Isle of Wight U11 beach soccer team put on a spirited performance at the Beach Fest in Bournemouth.

This was an impressive feat considering they were up against competitors in the U13 category.

The tournament, on Sunday, August 4, had an array of age and physical differences in the match, which only added to the already strenuous competition amongst the fourteen teams of three groups.

Preparation for the tournament was given a boost thanks to training with England beach soccer stars Cam O’Rourke and Connor Henderson, who shared their insights on bicycle kicks.

The Isle of Wight squad's campaign kicked off with an intense encounter against Ridgeway U13 that resulted in a narrow defeat.

This did not deter the team, as they then secured a 3-0 victory over Dexters Sports, followed by a 3-2 win against Enfield Town.

They topped their group after defeating the formidable BRS team 1-0.

The team continued their strong performance into the quarter-finals, dominating LTD Warriors with a 3-0 win through goals from Harry, who netted twice, and Theo.

In the semi-final match, the boys showed exceptional skill against Wimborne Town, winning 1-0 with a standout performance from defender Denys and goalkeeper Artem.

The final was a rematch against BRS, who came into the match with a 9-0 semi-final win.

Isle of Wight U11 beach soccer team took an early lead with a flick by Ronnie.

Despite BRS scoring two goals to take the lead, Denys levelled the score with a spectacular free kick, taking the game into extra time.

However, the boys conceded a goal in the last 30 seconds, with a final score of 3-2 in favour of BRS.

The team is looking forward to their matches in the Mid-Solent Div A football league.

They are now also sponsored by St James Clinic, Wightlink, and PanicGuard.
