Newport rowers competed at the Poole Regatta last weekend, with Lexie Nestor-Powell making her regatta debut.

Newport Men's Novice and Women's Masters crews were involved, but unfortunately the Men's Junior crew were unable to attend due to a crew injury.

Lexie only started rowing last September.

Rowing in a straight final, the women's crew stumbled at the start, which rendered them a length down on the other crews.

A good first half of the race kept them in contention, but despite a solid buoy turn, they lost ground in the second half of the race to finish fifth.

The Men's crew had a close race in their heat, with three crews vying for second place.

They were pipped to second, but qualified for the final, which was also a close race.

After a clash of oars at the start, Newport had to work hard to stay in contention but faded in the final third to finish fifth.
