Geoff Doughty has only recently taken up running again, but smashed the Prague Half Marathon on April 6.
Geoff, who is 55 and from Haylands, Ryde, completed the race in one hour, 27 minutes and 34 seconds.
It meant he was placed ninth overall in the 55 to 59 age group out of 600 runners and was the first runner from the UK in his category.
He was 562nd overall out of 15,000 runners.
He said it was an unseasonably hot day of 26 degrees which made the run extra challenging.
Geoff is a retired firefighter who has lived on the Island most of his life, and spent 30 years based at Southsea Fire Station.
