Isle of Wight and Wessex League football looks likely to be bogged down by weather today (Saturday, March 2), with pitch inspections scheduled and a few postponements already confirmed.
In the Wessex League Premier Division, Cowes Sports travel to Wiltshire to face fellow play-off hopefuls Laverstock & Ford.
Cowes and Laverstock sit in seventh and eighth places respectively, both on 45 points, with the Yachtsmen having played one extra league match.
If results at Baffins Milton Rovers and Brockenhurst go the Yachtsmen’s way this afternoon– or indeed, the matches are postponed – Cowes will end today in the Premier Division play-off places.
A pitch inspection is planned at The Dell at 8am.
Tomorrow we take a trip to Wiltshire for a match against fellow playoff-hopefuls Laverstock Ford

Meanwhile, in the Wessex League Division One, both Vics and Newport are scheduled to be in action today.
Having held fellow promotion-hopefuls Alresford Town to a 1-1 draw at Beatrice Avenue last Saturday, in what boss Alex Smith described as the ‘biggest game’ of their season so far, Vics face another huge challenge at Cove.
The Islander’s opponents sit one place behind them in sixth, just two points back and on the same games played.
Vics will also be keeping a close eye on seventh-place Fleetlands, who lurk three points behind with a higher goal difference, hosting top-of-the-table Downton.
There is no word yet on a pitch inspection.
Next up for VICS 👇🏻

Newport will welcome third-from-bottom Andover Town to Beatrice Avenue, hoping to bounce back from their disappointing midweek home loss to last-placed New Milton Town – who picked up just their second win of the season.
Port have played the second least about of games in Division One this season, thanks to waterlogged pitches and Solent travel woes.
A pitch inspection is expected early this morning.
Newport are set to welcome @Andovertownfc to Beatrice Ave tomorrow, KO 3pm, looking to bounce straight back from disappointment midweek.
