The Isle of Wight Motorcycle Club’s winter championship came to a very soggy and windswept conclusion with the Duver Cup, held at Haslett Sandpit near Shorwell.
On December 10, 26 riders - and a few hardy spectators - braved the rain and blustery conditions to tackle eight sections.
Tom Richards sealed the 2023 expert championship with a resounding class win over Alfie Haydon, while Adam Morgan reigned supreme in the intermediates.
Morgan took the championship win with a loss of only 28 marks over Harrison Crickmore, who rode well to take a well-deserved third place in the overall championship standings.
Jason Elford claimed third spot at Haslett, only ten marks behind Harrison, while the heavy, sandy course took its toll on the rest of the class.
In the Open C group, Alan Gosden secured top spot in both the trial and the overall championship, and Simon Newnham performed well in the Over 50s class.
Only 11 marks separated first-place Mike True and third-place Derek Farndell in the novice group, and congratulations must go to Sam Jurich for his championship win.
Rob Payne rode confidently in the Adult Easy Class, coming top and taking the title, and the rest of the group were not far behind him with nine marks between Steve Jacobs in second spot and Guy Beeson in fourth.
Ben Ashcroft rode a blistering trial as the lone clubman to drop only 29, the second lowest score of the day.
Riley Baker, meanwhile, was forced to retire, cementing Blake Buggy as the 2023 Youth Easy Champion.
