FOR the first time in their history, the IW Table Tennis Association has entered teams into the British Senior League.
The first team plays in National C (5), and comprises Scott Lawson and Alex Rorke, who are joined by three players from a small mainland club, with the Island’s Glenn Morley also taking part when needed.
The second team plays in National C (7) and is made up of Paul Rainford, Hugh Idle, Ryan Cates, Tim Giles and Lewis Johnstone.
Hugh, Ryan and Lewis have all come through the Island coaching system.
With ten matches completed, the first team find themselves sixth in their division, having won four matches, including against Newton Abbott at the weekend.
Scott Lawson has an 87.5 per cent win average, while Alex Rorke has a 62.5 per cent win average.
The second team are fifth in their division, having also won four matches, with a particularly impressive win over Norwich City at the weekend, moving them up a place.
Paul Rainford has a 67 per cent win average, with Hugh Idle on 60 per cent, and junior Ryan Cates on a credible 45 per cent.
