An Isle of Wight racing driver has returned from the legendary Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps Belgium, where he was racing his 43-year-old Porsche.
John Jones, from Cowes, and his team Shadowline Racing, were guests of the All Dutch Porsche Racing Club on one of their overseas rounds.
The famous Spa circuit in the Ardennes Forest is notorious for its wet weather but was bathed in sunshine earlier this month.
In qualifying on Saturday, October 7, Jones was running fastest in class for most of the session and came into the pits as leader.
However, on the final flying lap, he was knocked down to third, missing out on second place by 32 thousandths of a second.
The race was a one-hour endurance race, where you can swap drivers over at the mandatory two-minute pit stop, however, Jones was driving the whole stint himself.
After an issue with his helmet's HANS safety device just as he was due to leave the pits, Jones missed the grid and had to agonisingly start from the pit lane, losing his grid position and starting from the back.
The car ran without issues, and after 60 minutes of racing, Jones managed to claw his way back, finishing second place in class.
The team are looking ahead to Easter 2024 when they are due to race again with the Dutch All Porsche Race Club at the Zandvoort circuit in Holland.
