TWO talented young Isle of Wight rowers excelled themselves representing England.
Shanklin-Sandown Rowing Club rowers Emily Faithfull and Riley Horrix, recently competed for their country at two events.
Emily was part of the England team at the ome International Beach Sprint in Wales.
Beach sprint is a fast growing sport around the world, with Emily taking part in the mixed doubles event — finishing third in the time trial, then just missing out on a podium spot, coming fourth in the final.
The format, which could become part of the 2028 Olympics, comprises a 50m sprint, 500m row (including a buoy turn) and a sprint back up the beach to finish.
Emily's sister, Daisy Faithfull, also a club member, was selected as a boat handler for the event.
Meanwhile, Riley, who recently returned to the sport during his studies at Imperial College, London, travelled to Poland for the European Universities Rowing Championships to race in the coxless pairs event.
The crew achieved a creditable fourth spot in the B final, racing against a quality field from all across Europe.
