Only one of our Isle of Wight women’s sides is in action tomorrow (Sunday, September 24), as the Hampshire Invitation Cup gets underway.

Wight Eagles are in action as they host Division 1 club QK Southampton in the first round of the cup.

The Eagles’ last fixture, a league tie against Rushmoor Community Women, was postponed last Sunday (September 17), so the Islanders have not taken to the pitch since their 5-1 win away to AFC Portchester two weeks ago.

It will be a tough fixture for Wight Eagles, as the Southampton side currently sit third, two divisions above.

Kick-off is at 2pm at the East Cowes Sports Ground.

Meanwhile, Shanklin Ladies were due to play fellow Division 1 team Liphook United – also in the Invitation Cup – however, they have secured a bye into round two.

Shanklin’s next match will be in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round against Winchester City Flyers, who ply their trade in the Southern Region Women's Football League, next Sunday (October 1).

Following their one-nil defeat at home to Widbrook United in Division 2 last Sunday, Cowes Sports Ladies are not in action this weekend.

Yet to score a point in their first three league games, Cowes will look ahead to October 8, when they host Mudeford Phoenix.
