THE final meeting of the Isle of Wight speedway season has been cancelled over a lack of available riders.
Tomorrow’s (Thursday’s) all-action event has been postponed, and there is a question mark over whether it can be rescheduled.
“We could not put out two competitive teams, with Rye House securing four riders and Warriors five,” said co-owners Barry Bishop and Martin Widman.
“Further to this, at least three riders would be missing from the Training Challenge Championship.
“At this stage, we are unsure if we can re-run the meeting and we will keep you informed, as it’s far from an ideal way to end to our season.
“For now, we would like to thank all our fans and sponsors for their commitment, our riders, too, for all their efforts, and finally our volunteers who do such a superb job week in week out.
“We will announce our end of season party date soon, so keep an eye open for that.”
