Crowds of people flocked to Cowes and Gurnard for the return of the world-famous Cowes-Torquay-Cowes powerboat race yesterday (Sunday).
The event, in its 62nd year, saw plenty of high-octane action on The Solent.
As they did last year, Drew Langdon, alongside Miles Jennings, won the race in boat, Silverline. They clocked a time of 3hrs 2mins 22secs, at an average speed of nearly 68mph.
Their nearest challenger in Round 5 of the 2023 UKOPRA Offshore Championship, team Blastoff Racing, finished more than an hour after.
Setting off ten minutes later was the Cowes-Poole-Cowes race.
The race, with a fleet of 17 competitors, was won by Renegade 2, piloted by Andy Foster and crewed by Charles Morris, who finished in 1.11.06.
Islanders Peter Hall and Terry Parsons in E-8 Mango Crazy, came fifth in 1.22.03.
