On a bright, blustery morning, more than 200 athletes took on the Isle of Wight half marathon race.
The event was organised and staged by Ryde Harriers, and their very own Dan Eckersley (1:11:17) won the race.
A masterful run saw Daniel, who trains with Geoff Watkin, power away from the leading group at around the half-way stage.
The 37-year-old electronics engineer at Vectawave went on to win by nearly three minutes.
In second place was Elliot Hind (1:14:06) from Marshall Milton Keynes, and third place went to Ryde Harriers’ Chris Newnham (1:14:45).
The ladies race was a more straightforward affair, with 32-year-old Sarah McDade of Reading Roadrunners (1:35:01) taking the win.
In second place, trailing Sarah by almost five minutes was Stephanie Fletcher of Newport (1:39:46), and Nadia Lele of Cowes clinched third place in 1:43:07.
The 67th edition of the Isle of Wight marathon race takes place on October 8 at 11am.
Entries close on October 1.
