MORE than 70 members of Shanklin and Sandown Golf Club took on a unique course as part of an annual cross-country competition.
On Sunday, August 13, 72 participants played a Texas Scramble in teams of four.
The winners were Chris Harvey, Paul Cock, Sandie Gallard-Jupp and Alex Perrin, scoring a net 43.5.
Second place, on count-back, went to Tony Williams, Linda Piche, Robert and Jane Wilson, with a net 44.
Meanwhile, at Ryde Gold Club, Tricia Penn (19) won a nine-hole Stableford in division one, ahead of Liz Van Wyk (16) and Margaret Means (12).
In division two, Chris Hall (16) got the better of Chris Varle (15) and Brenda Reynolds (14).
Sally Hardman (-3) won an 18-hole par competition, beating Penny MacLean (-7) and Tricia Warner (8).
At Freshwater Bay Golf Club, Nick Punter (64) won an August medal, finishing ahead of Nick Riby (67) and Peter Matthews (68).
A midweek medal was won by Nick McArthur in division one, and by Darren Burgess in division two.
Cliff Sanders (38) won an all-members Stableford, ahead of Nick Riby and Duncan Bishop (37), and Miles Oldershaw and Tony Hammonds tasted victory in divisions one and two respectively, picking up a midweek medal.
