WEDNESDAY evening's racing at Gurnard Sailing Club was accompanied by strong westerly winds and a high tide on the Western Solent last week.
Only two catamarans took to the water, with Martin Scott winning their race.
The challenging conditions produced an eventful race in the Fast Handicap race, which resulted in several capsizes and a torn mainsail.
Tim Wilkins and Samuel Leather, in an RS500, emerged the winners.
Chris Hobday took first place in the Medium Handicap fleet of Aeros and ILCA6s.
Various course infringements and retirements decimated the Slow Handicap fleet, with only Robin and Emily Leather's RS Feva eligible for a result.
The biggest fleet of the night was provided by the juniors in the RS Teras and Optimists race.
Cass D's RS Tera narrowly beat Patrick and Sean DeSalle's Optimists on corrected time.
