MORE than 60 players, supporters and their partners attended the annual Sandown and Shanklin Rugby Club end of season awards evening.
A massive thank you must go to Victoria Winter for orchestrating the event, which capped off a superb season for the club.
Adam Tyas was named clubman of the year, while supporters’ player of the year went to Damian Seder.
Tom Marriott was the players’ player of the season, and Jamie Dilk was the seconds side’s player of the year.
Forward of the year for the seconds side went to Connor King, while back of the year went to Gary Warvill.
For the first team, Marriott was named player of the year, Sam Rees took home the award for forward of the year, and Marriott also picked up the prize for back of the year.
Hugo Jolliffe was recognised as the most improved player of the year, and King the best tackler of the year.
Young player of the year went to Sam Thomas, Rees was the veteran player of the year, and the mentor of the year award went to Tony Eyeles.
Club director, Damien Marriott, said: "Congratulations to all the players who picked up awards.
“Special mention to Sam Rees, and Connor King, who both won two awards each, however, the real winner of the evening was Tom Marriott, who won three awards in his debut season for the club.
“Tom has made a huge contribution and that is reflected in the awards.
“Hugo Jolliffe had a breakthrough season, battling his way into the first team, and went the full season without missing a single game.”
