THERE were thrills and spills for drivers who competed in Round 3 of the WKRKC at Westridge in Ryde.
WIGHT KARTING RK CHAMPIONSHIPS
The event attracted a complete grid of 12 drivers competing for top spot, over 3-15 lap heats.
Typically, each race was packed with bumper to bumper action throughout — each driver trying to maximise their finishing positions for those all-important race points.
Jack Goring dominated — winning with a near-perfect 37 points, after taking two race wins from his meaningful heats, together with one fastest lap bonus.
He defeated Harvey Yates (25 points), who battled hard — managing a last lap overtake on previous championship leader, 'Moke', on the last lap of the final heat.
Harvey earned second and fourth place finishes in his meaningful heats.
Dale Hunt (24 points) came a very close third — picking up a race win and a sixth place finish.
At the mid-way point of the championships, Jack has taken over top spot from 'Moke', who drops to third, with Dale Hunt sitting in second after a string of consistent top three finishes.
Round 4 will be on July 14, running on the standard track layout.
"This will highly likely be another sell-out event, so booking early is highly advised," say organisers.
