THE new Solent Synchronised Skating Team (Solent Synchro) — which incorporates Isle of Wight and Gosport skaters — enjoyed an amazingly successful Britannia Cup and British Championships by winning a clutch of medals and several national titles.
Teams from England, Scotland, Wales, Finland, Poland, Australia and the United States descended on Nottingham's Motorpoint Arena for a full two days of top quality competition.

Seven Solent teams competed — achieving some brilliant results, including personal best scores.
Juvenile team, Solent Waves — co-captained by Tegan Evans, alongside fellow Islander Carmen Menzies — had a spectacular gold medal win, becoming British champions with a PB of 43.96 points.
Not to be outdone, the Junior B team, Solent Storm, co-captained by Island skater, Jess Curtis, had an incredible skate — taking first place, with 60.52 PB score, to win gold and the British title.
Alongside Jess were fellow Islanders Jess Gruber, Jasmine Young and Eloise Hayward.
The Senior B team, Solent Surge, captained by another Islander, Keelin Scholes, earned a 7.64 personal best to achieve 82.85 points — a mammoth score, which saw them surge to gold and the British Championship crown.
Izzy and Jess Curtis were among the team.
The pre-juvenile team, the Solent Droplets, scored 19.61 — a 4.07-point increase on their first competition last month in Scotland, which saw them grab a silver medal.
Beginners' team, Solent Splash — captained by Menzies — performed superbly.
But due to an unlucky lace malfunction, the team were penalised 1.50 points, which agonisingly dropped them down into fourth by the tiniest of margins — and disappointingly just outside the podium positions.
"This team were incredible — beginners, performing like professionals, finishing only 0.06 points off a bronze medal," said club spokesperson, Ruth Curtis.
The intermediate team, Solent Riptide, co-captained by Isle of Wight skater, Lydia Soar, impressed the judges with their huge enthusiasm, to gain another PB score, one of 38.85 — smashing it by 6.96 points — to earn silver.
In the adult contest, Solent Sunrise came sixth in what proved to be the largest category, comprising 11 teams.
Sunrise, which included Islanders Gail Collins and Ali Coe, were awarded a 23.22-point PB — an increase of 1.50.
The coaching team includes Islanders Terri Smith and Roxy Collins.
The club's Island skaters are sponsored by Wightlink in the Community, which allows them to travel to Gosport up to three times a week to train.
