RYDE teams fill the top four places in Division 1 after another exciting week of action in the Isle of Wight Table Tennis League.
In Division 1, Ryde D’s junior players performed well in their match against Havenstreet A, with Ryan Cates player of the match — winning his three games.
Following their 7-3 victory, Ryde D now lay second in the table, behind leaders Ryde A, who had an easy 10-0 win over Havenstreet B.
The four Ryde teams now fill the top four places with Newport Vics A in fifth.
Meanwhile, in Division 2, the match of the week was between Ryde Rascals and Ryde Rangers, with many years of experience at the table on show.
It was a long night of close games.
The Rascal’s Peter Clarke was player of the match, but his team-mates, Brian Voller and Stephen Gibbons, secured victory for them with a five-set win over the Ranger’s Alan Burch and Alan Dennis, with the score ending at 6-4.
The St Lawrence Lizards overtook Shorwell Spinners for top spot in Division 3, thanks to a 6-4 victory.
But Shorwell’s Steve Fairclough was unlucky not to end the amazing 100 per cent win record of St Lawrence Lizard’s Derek Pittard — taking him to a five-set thriller.
