WIGHTLINK WARRIORS
THE achievements of speedway riders of all ages and experience connected to the Isle of Wight's speedway club, the Wightlink Warriors, were celebrated in the club’s end of year awards evening.
There was a large and appreciative audience in the Premier Lounge, at Ryde’s Smallbrook Stadium, on Saturday.
Presentations were made to the following: Pee-Wee rider — Oscar Berwick; Alan Critcher youth riders — Tia Brant, Charlie Green and Jack Scully-Syer; 500 Dash — Kye Elliott; Wightlink Wizard — Steph Whitlock; Wightlink Warlock — Morgan Williams; Wightlink Warrior — Arran Butcher; most entertaining Warrior — Arran Butcher; most entertaining visiting rider — Henry Atkins; most impressive rider — Henry Atkins and Arran Butcher; best turned-out rider of 2022 — Chris Watts; fastest home rider — Ben Morley (70.3 seconds); fastest visiting rider — Jason Edwards (68.3 seconds); volunteer of the year (joint) — Arthur Joy, Graham Woodberry and Graham Hewitt; promoters’ special award — Taya Thirtle; Kay Richardson Award for all-round club commitment — Danno Verge; supporters’ competition for fastest starter on the ‘Beat The Gater’ machine — Matt Green.
- The speedway training school, My First Skid, continues at Smallbrook throughout the winter months (when weather permits), with dates and information available on the My First Skid Facebook page.
