THE ISLE of Wight will again be playing host to one of the biggest events on the British powerboat racing calendar — the historic Cowes-Torquay-Cowes race.

A highlight of the August bank holiday, Cowes will tomorrow (Sunday) host the 61st edition of the popular event.

Teams from around the globe will line up across the Royal Yacht Squadron line in Cowes, for a 10am start — creating a huge spectacle of modern and historic race boats for powerboating fans.

Offshore classes 1 and 2 will again be supported by a strong contingent of Class 3 and 4 teams, who will race in the popular Cowes-Poole-Cowes race.

At 10.15am, there will be the start of the Cowes-Poole-Cowes race.

Both races are part of the offshore’s governing bodies, the UKOPRA British and World Championships.
