The days of sharing your streaming services passwords are soon to be long gone as another giant provider clamps down on password sharing.

Following in the steps of Netflix, Disney+ will begin charging users if they share the account with someone outside the household.

The change will mean that the primary account holder will be charged an extra £4.99 a month if they do share Disney+ with anyone from another household.

The system will work similarly to Netflix's password-sharing scheme with the chance to 'buy an extra member'.

Disney+ to charge for password sharing

The Money Saving Expert website shares that there are four things Disney+ users can do to find out if they will need to pay the new charge.

To find out whether you are password sharing, Disney+ will check where you are using the service from.

From now on, Disney+ will have a 'Household' account based on the devices that are used that come under your 'primary residence.

However, if you are away from home and watching the service, you will need to verify the account with a one-time passcode.

If you want to share your Disney+ you will need to buy a separate 'Extra Memeber' profile which will be an extra cost on top of your normal payment for the service.

The base price for an extra person starts at £3.99 for 'Standard with Ads' and rises to £4.99 for either 'Standard' or 'Premium' plan.

If you are currently already sharing an account, you will not be charged but you will need an extra profile.

However, it has not yet been confirmed how Disney+ will enforce the policy.

It's also important to note that you can only buy one extra member add-on per account.
