If you have recently been on the popular social media platform TikTok, you may have seen the word 'Zepotha' floating around.
As millions of users on the video platform app have been sharing videos tagged 'Zepotha'.
The slightly bizarre trend has confused many, with some sharing that they think they may be faced with the Mandela Effect as they convince themselves that they've heard of the word.
But what is 'Zepotha' and is it really a Mandela Effect moment or is a TikTok user tricking millions of viewers?

What is the TikTok trend Zepotha?
Zepotha is said to be the name of a 1987 horror movie, however, there is no movie called Zepotha.
Rather, one TikTok user named Emily Jeffri thought it would be fun to convince users that it was a real film.
As they shared a TikTok that has reached more than 2.7 million views writes: "OK so new bit idea: what if we created a fake 80s horror movie called 'Zepotha' and started commenting 'omg u look exactly like that one girl from Zepotha' or 'wait, u look exactly like ____ from Zepotha' on every thirst trap we see.
"Together we will witness new lore develop, main characters will emerge, etc. & we can convince thousands of people that this weirdly titled 80s horror film actually exists."
Although it sounds like a bizarre idea, many have gone along with it and are following suit.

Some TikTok users even created characters from the movie, with names like Alaine, Danny, Cole, Rita, Vincent and Maxine and commented on creators' videos how much they "look like Danny from Zepotha".
Others have even made fan art based on the made-up film, really committing to the Zepotha trend.
If you have come across the Zepotha TikTok movie and are wondering if it really is a film, don't worry you are not going mad, it's not a real film but rather a TikTok craze.
