IT MAY surprise you that one of the country's most Instragrammable streets is on the Isle of Wight.

The Island's hidden gem, Winkle Street, in Calbourne, came joint top of a league table of the UK's most hashtagged streets, on social media platform, Instagram.

Regarded as a perfect picture postcard attraction on the Isle of Wight, visited by thousands each year, it has even proved a top place to go for a festive walk, as Sienna Anderson's picture shows.

Quaint Winkle Street has about 500 hashtags.

"Its row of thatched cottages creates a timeless escape into traditional English countryside life," say Leeds Locksmiths.

"Particularly magical during winter, when snow falls, Winkle Street an idyllic spot for capturing the charm of a bygone era, famously depicted in works by artists like A. Heaton-Cooper."

Also tied for the top spot is King’s Parade in Cambridge, a quintessentially British street steeped in history; Anita Street, in Manchester’s Ancoats district, which is described as a small, historically rich lane lined with red-brick terraces and vintage lamp posts; and beautiful Chalcot Crescent in London.
