POLICE on the Isle of Wight are appealing for information after a man was knocked unconscious in an assault at a Ryde pub last weekend.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said the incident happened at The Crown public house, in the town centre, at 10.05pm on Saturday (November 23).

A man in his 20s was reportedly "punched, kicked and stamped on" during the assault, leaving him unconscious.

He was taken by ambulance to St Mary's Hospital, Newport, with a head injury, but this is not life-threatening, say police.
