The Isle of Wight saw heavy downpours and thunder and lightning overnight.
Between midnight and around 3am, the Isle of Wight Met Service reported 'a few rumbles and flashes' of light.
Many Islanders said they were woken up by the loud 'claps' and flashes of light.
In Wootton, residents said they witnessed a sudden strike of lightning and heard heavy thunder in the early hours, causing a brief power outage.
It was also seen from Ryde and East Cowes.
Revealing what's in store today, forecaster Jamie Russell, of the Met Service, said: "Early showers will clear away to leave behind some fine, sunny spells, although later in the day we will see the cloud gradually increase once again as further showers move in from the channel towards evening."
The temperature is expected to be around 9-10°C.
