A police investigation is underway after members of the public reported being bitten by a dog in separate incidents on the Isle of Wight.

The first two incidents, which allegedly happened on November 12 and 15 respectively, saw two people bitten, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said.

The members of the public required medical treatment for their injuries.

Meanwhile, police said the third incident, on November 19, resulted in another dog being bitten and sustaining puncture wounds.

The injured dog was taken to the vet and given antibiotics and pain relief.

Police said they have been following up a number of enquiries, and have identified and spoken with a man suspected of being in charge of the dog involved in these incidents.

"The dog is no longer in this person’s possession and the investigation continues", a spokesperson for the force said.
