Major disruption between Ryde and Wootton is likely next week as a main Isle of Wight road shuts for a day.
Kite Hill, Wootton, is closing between Fishbourne Lane and Wootton Bridge, by the Sloop Inn pub.
It means traffic coming from Newport and Ryde will not be able to travel through Wootton and will, instead, have to divert.
The closure is necessary to allow for BT to excavate and repair/replace a defective frame and cover.
Southern Vectis has said its route 4 will not operate.

Customers wishing to travel between Ryde and East Cowes will need to use route 9 from Ryde to Newport and connect with route 5 from Newport to East Cowes.
On the route 9, all buses from Newport Bus Station will be diverting via Staplers Road, then run non stop from Landscape Lane via Long Lane, Downs Road and Brading, then dropping off / picking up in Marlborough Road, East Hill Road and Esplanade to Ryde bus station.
From Ryde, the number 9 will be running as normal to John Street then drop off / pick up via West Street, Green Street, St Johns Road and Marlborough Road, then non stop via Brading, Downs Rd and Long Lane, to Landscape Lane where it will drop off/pick up to Newport Bus Station.
Shuttle Buses will be operating between Newport and Wootton Tesco and between Ryde bus station and Fishbourne Lane.
Kite Hill is expected to be closed between 9.30am on Monday, November 25 until 5am on Tuesday, November 26.
