A MET Office weather warning for strong winds has been issued for the Isle of Wight as Storm Bert makes its way across the south coast.
The warning goes live at 3pm tomorrow (Saturday) and runs until 9pm on Sunday.
The national forecaster says strong winds due to Storm Bert are likely to cause dangerous coastal conditions and disruption.
What to expect?
- There is a small chance of longer journey times or cancellations as road, rail, air and ferry services are affected.
- There is a slight chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs.
- There is a slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.
- There is a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties.
- There is a small chance of injuries and danger to life from flying debris.

Yesterday, Isle of Wight ferry firm Wightlink warned that the storm could hamper cross-Solent services.
“We advise anyone planning to travel with us to check our website for further information,” said a spokesperson for the ferry operator.
“If there are delays or cancellations, customers with bookings will be contacted by our team.”
