The closure of a main thoroughfare through Ryde on the Isle of Wight is continuing to cause 'havoc' on the roads this morning (Friday).
Green Street has been under an emergency closure since Wednesday (November 20).
It is necessary to allow Southern Water to repair a leak on a stop tap.
The road is shut between its junction with Mount Street and its junction with Station Street for a distance of 28 metres.
It means drivers are having to divert either down Swanmore Road and via West Street, or via the Esplanade and via West Street.
Argyll Street and West Street are backed up, as a result.
One driver told the County Press they had been had been stuck in slow moving traffic for around half an hour.
An emergency notice, put in place by the utility firm, said the work is due to end today, although the exact time is unclear.
