A weather warning for ice has been issued for the Isle of Wight, as temperatures begin to fall.

The Met Office is warning of 'icy stretches', leading to some difficult travelling conditions.

A spokesperson for the forecaster said: "Icy stretches are expected to form on untreated surfaces during Thursday evening and overnight into Friday morning as temperatures drop below freezing.

"A few wintry showers are also likely at times, particularly across the far west of the warning area, which may give a further 1 to 2 cm snowfall above 200 metres."

The weather warning comes into effect from 5pm today until 10am tomorrow (Friday).

Although unlikely to lay, parts of the Island have already had flurries of snow today.

The heaviest snowfall has been seen in East Cowes.
