I tried floating sauna at Tapnell Farm, and it didn't disappoint.

The brainchild of Rob and Josie Da Bank, Slomo's floating sauna is berthed at Tapnell Farm throughout November and December, open Thursday to Sunday for Islanders to experience.

The brisk November weather didn't deter me from getting involved, with the promise of the waterborne sauna enticing me as I walked down to the lake.

It initially felt a bit surreal, having never been in an outside sauna before, but the combination of a wood-fired, Finnish-style sauna and views spanning West Wight was spectacular.(Image: IWCP)

The sauna also bobbed up and down as you moved to get comfortable, a good reminder of the unusual setup.

I also tried contrast therapy, which quite literally sent shivers down my spine.

We were encouraged to take a dip in the lake at intervals throughout the hour.

I only managed two lengths of the cordoned-off area before I got back into the sauna as quickly as I could.

The staff were friendly, attentive and welcoming, coming in with extra logs and dashing the sauna stones with water.

If you're looking for a new experience on your doorstep, I'd recommend the floating sauna at Tapnell Farm.

The sauna is open from Thursday to Sunday until Sunday, December 29, with extra opening times during the Christmas holidays.

You can book on the Tapnell Farm website.

Sessions in the floating sauna cost £20 per person per hour.

Two grounded saunas are also available at £15 per person per hour.

All facilities are available for private hire.
