A PROLIFIC Isle of Wight offender caught in possession of cannabis has bettered herself and got over her issues with drugs and alcohol, a court heard.

Lily Nash, of Atkinson Drive, Newport, appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates on Tuesday, November 12.

The 24-year-old admitted possession of cannabis, in Ryde, on March 24 of last year.

Prosecutor, Lauren McConnell, said the attention of police was drawn to a parked car on Marlborough Road in Ryde.

She said Nash was a passenger in the car, and as part of an investigation, several items were seized from the vehicle.

Ms McConnell told the bench Nash was found in possession of a small amount of cannabis which she said was for personal use, and not for selling.

Oscar Vincent, defending, said it was an offence of some age which arose from her being arrested for something she had not done.

He said she had moved on significantly with her life since, was justifiably proud of the progress she had made, and no longer had issues with drugs or alcohol.

Nash, who has nine previous convictions for 22 offences, was fined £80 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £32 surcharge.
