A new inclusive, accessible Isle of Wight children's play park is set to open for the very first time this weekend.
Godshill resident, Nikki Collinson-Phenix, came up with the idea all the way back in 2015.
The project was born following a "heart breaking" conversation she had with a mum who mentioned how challenging she found taking her child, who is in a wheelchair, to a playground.
Fuelled by a "stubborn determination", Nikki took on the project, with the mantra 'fun for ALL!’

Permission to build the park, at Central Mead in Godshill, was eventually granted in June 2021.
Money was secured thanks to Island businesses and anonymous donors.
“It’s been a very challenging nine years to get to this point, and to say we are excited is an understatement,” said Nikki.
“We will forever be indebted to the incredible anonymous donors whose humbling kindness and generosity has enabled this project to go from a dream to a reality.
“Giving the Island its first public wheelchair swing is massive, and it’s been a long time coming.
“I hope our park inspires others to seek to make all the play parks on the Island as accessible and as inclusive as possible.
“Play parks should be fun for ALL and we can’t wait to open and see families playing together, regardless of any challenges they may face.”
At 11am on Sunday, November 17, the play park will open for the very first time.
Following the unveiling and ribbon cutting, visitors are invited to The Griffin public house for celebratory hot chocolate.
