AN ISLE of Wight man refused to engage with court staff when in front of magistrates, despite waiting patiently for his case to be heard.
The 44-year-old appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates on Tuesday, November 12.
He was there to answer serious charges, but despite waiting patiently in the public gallery for his case to be heard, upon entering the dock, he refused to engage with the court procedure.
Representing himself, the man declined to confirm his name or his address, and stared blankly at the legal advisor.
When pressed for a response, he said he had been advised he ‘had the right to remain silent’ and ‘didn’t have to provide anything’.
Asked if that was the advice he had been given and the advice he was sticking to, he confirmed it was.
Hands shaking and clearly incensed, he went on to accuse a member of court staff of ‘repeated discrimination’ and ‘conspiring with the Crown’.
In light of his refusal to partake in proceedings, magistrates adjourned his case to next year.
He was granted conditional bail.
The County Press is not naming the man at this stage, due to the live status of the court case
