Crews from Newport, Sandown, Shanklin and Ryde attended the scene.
Upon their arrival, firefighters discovered smoke had spread throughout the building, due to a power outage, which caused fumes from the building's on-site generator, a spokesperson for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said.
After ensuring the premises were ventilated, safe and the situation under control, the incident was stood down and handed over to Scottish and Southern Electricity engineers.
Crews returned to their stations by 2.45pm.
