Isle of Wight dog rescued from underground drain tunnel

Holly went missing at 3pm on Sunday, November 11, prompting her owners to alert volunteer rescue team, Drone SAR For Lost Dogs Isle of Wight.

Having assembled ground searchers and a thermal drone pilot, the group was told Holly was last seen entering a culvert in her garden.

It was assumed she had exited the other end but on inspection, the tunnel was found to be blocked.

Attempts were made to search the tunnel, ground searches were carried out and a thermal drone was put up, but Holly could not be found.

Rescuers were also joined by Simon Ledger, from TrackAdog and Jamie Webster from Island firm Reno Drain.

Working "on a hunch" she was still in the culvert, Jamie Webster sent in his camera but soon realised he was going to have to go in himself.

"He started calling her and she came down the tunnel to him", the group said.

"Jamie then crawled backwards with her all the way out where they were met by some of the ground searchers."

She was taken straight into the house to be checked over, dried off and warmed up.

The group said: "We can't thank Jamie from Reno Drain enough! He is an absolute superstar! If it wasn't for him joining our search, we wouldn't have got her out!

"Great team effort all round. So happy that Holly was found as quickly as she was and now safely tucked up at home and getting some rest after her adventure."
