THE driver of a Honda car pursued by police through two Isle of Wight villages, has been reported for summons to appear in an Isle of Wight court.  

Police armed response teams and the roads policing officers on the Island attempted to stop a silver Honda car being "driven dangerously" through Wootton and Havenstreet yesterday (Sunday).

The police attempted to halt the vehicle on Lushington Hill, Wootton, at around 11am.

However, the driver allegedly made off, with the police in pursuit through Havenstreet.

The Honda driver had "caused distress to horses and riders while speeding through Havenstreet" said police. 

The vehicle was later located on Wray Street, Ryde, and seized by officers.

A 32-year-old man from Ryde has been reported for summons, for driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance.

The driver has not yet been formally charged, but is ordered to appear before Island magistrates on some future date yet to be fixed.

"There is zero tolerance to persons using vehicles with no documents and driving in this manner," a police spokesperson added.
